49er Connect Success Guides

49er Connect

The 49er Connect Success Guides are the UCAE's newest Peer Leaders. They are a trained group of UNC Charlotte Students matched with their peers to provide academic support throughout the semester. The program is FREE to enroll and continue with throughout the semester and your time at Charlotte!

Success Guides serve as accountability partners to ensure you are up to date on your assignments. They can also help peers strengthen academic skills like time management, exam preparation, and note-taking. They can help you to troubleshoot issues in your classes and to become more connected to campus, both people and resources. In bi-weekly check-ins they provide reminders about University deadlines, events happening on campus, and share study tips.

MEET YOUR 2022 49ER CONNECT Equity Fellows:

Emilia Glaser

I am a graduate student in the Counseling program. I moved down to Charlotte from Boone, NC, where I studied at Appalachian State University. I really enjoy hiking, cooking, watching shows, and spending time with my family. When I am not doing those things, you can often find me curled up reading a book or studying. I can not wait to start working with students and offering up any support I can.

Rosa Gonzalez
My name is Rosa Gonzalez and I am pursuing my Master's in Educational Leadership. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's in Political Science. After graduating, I served as a college advisor for two years in McDowell County. I love working with students, guiding and supporting students through their educational goals is something I am passionate about. I am a first-generation student who needed all the support I could get as a young adult, without the help of my college advisor and other college access professionals, I wouldn't be where I am today. So now I am fortunate to have the chance to give back to those who need it.

Turner Medlicott

I'm in my first year in the Master's of Social Work program, and have a passion for working in healthcare and with underrepresented populations. I did my undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill, and am a diehard Tar Heel sports fan (basketball, field hockey, soccer, football, you name it)! In my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors, exploring new music, kicking butt in Mario Party, and finding great food spots around Charlotte. I can't wait to learn your story and help you accomplish the goals that fit YOU!

Kasha Seltzer

I am a first-year graduate student in the department of Counseling, concentrating in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am interested in becoming a therapist and working with adolescents and young adults. Before Graduate School, I spent a year as a College Advisor in Eastern, NC with Carolina College Advising Corps. Before that, I graduated with a major in History with minors in American Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In my free time, I like to cook, discover new restaurants, read, and spend time with my partner, family, and friends. I am so excited to meet you and help you navigate all the amazing things UNC Charlotte has to offer!
