L. Parker, M.Ed.
Parker (she/her/hers) is the Assistant Director for Tutoring. As an undergraduate student, Parker earned the Master Level of the College Reading & Learning Association’s (CLRA) International Tutor Training Program Certification while working as a peer tutor on-campus at UNC Greensboro. Her experience as a peer tutor helped her discover her passion for serving students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. She graduated from UNC Greensboro with a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education.
As a practitioner, Parker uses a strengths-focused approach, which allows students to feel empowered to build on their personal experience and knowledge, rather than get discouraged by focusing on what they lack. This provides students with an inclusive and comfortable environment to learn and try new things. Parker believes that every person deserves equitable access to education, and strives to create a student-ready campus environment through collaboration and intentional programming. In order to stay current on trends and practices regarding equity and inclusion within learning centers, Parker facilitates regular conversations with national colleagues as the leader of the Multicultural Equity & Inclusion Special Interest Group of CRLA.
At home, Parker has a beautiful cat named Squirrel and a stubborn hound dog named Hoss. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, reading books, and spending time outdoors.
