Abstract:
Navigating tutorial services can be difficult due to a myriad of factors, one being the conventionality of the subject matter. This presentation explores the challenges and unique opportunities encountered by tutors of less conventional subject matters, such as foreign languages. Join a Japanese language tutor as he reflects on his 2.5 years of tutoring experience and shares how self-advocacy amplified his impact to reach a wider group of students. By learning and implementing self-advocacy, tutors are equipped to navigate challenges, inspire interest, and ultimately enhance the educational experience for both tutors and students alike.
