Abstract:
Experiential learning is undoubtedly a revolutionary adult theory that allows students to enhance their education to the next level. The term experiential learning is derived from the relationship between both learning and experience, and its theory is recognized as allowing students to engage in first-hand experiences and actively learn by doing. This type of practice emphasizes the importance of life experiences impacting educational outcomes. Experiential learning can be embedded into almost any educational method from coaching to tutoring. The practice of working firsthand with new material has been shown to increase engagement and productivity, enhance knowledge retention, and add an enjoyable component to learning. Experiential learning allows college students to engross themselves in content, whether that is through a kinesthetic hands-on approach, or experiencing rare opportunities onsite in their prospective field. Participants in this session will engage in experiential learning to better understand how they can integrate this method into their practice.
