Abstract: In 2006, UNC Charlotte launched what would become its comprehensive academic recovery program to assist students on academic probation. Since its inception 18 years ago, the program, known as 49er Rebound, has undergone significant growth and development, consistently aiding students in improving their academic standing and persistence. Currently, the program is supported by a team of three professional staff members, three Graduate Teaching Assistants, over 30 undergraduate student employees, and more than 20 part-time instructors. With an annual enrollment of over 650 students, 49er Rebound sends a powerful message to each participant, emphasizing that every student possesses the potential for success within our university.

This interactive session will introduce participants to the creation and evolution of an effective and long-lasting academic recovery program with an emphasis on decision-making and assessment. Through a series of guided exercises, participants will gain skills to assist them in creating or enhancing an academic recovery program within their own educational institution.
