Position info:
- SOS Peer Mentors work with students who have experienced academic difficulty. It is a semester-long program and is tailored to help students identify their unique challenges, improve academic performance, and return to good academic standing.
- SOS Peer Mentors empower the students they work with to identify strengths and challenges, develop academic and personal success strategies, and connect with appropriate campus resources.
- Mentors work on average 10-12 hours per week and earn $12.50 per hour.
- Students can apply through Hire-a-Niner or by clicking above. This position is eligible for Federal Work Study.
- Peer Mentors are required to attend weekly staff meetings/trainings on one (1) of the following days/times throughout the semester:
- Tuesday, 8:30am – 9:30am
- Wednesday, 12:15pm – 1:15pm
- Peer Mentors should expect to support five mentees.
- Peer Mentors can earn International Peer Educator Training Program Certification (IPETPC, Level 1 & 2) through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
Qualifications:
- Must be an undergraduate student who has been at Charlotte for at least one semester (having earned at least 12 credit hours at UNC Charlotte)
- Maintained a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Will be enrolled in 6+ credit hours in the semester of employment
