Peer Tutoring
Peer tutoring provides course-specific support for over 150 courses at Charlotte. Tutoring is a great resource if you want active practice with important course concepts or if you are struggling with something specific.
Tutoring is free and available to any enrolled undergraduate student. It is available virtually or in person, through drop-in or by appointment.
How to Schedule an Appointment
- Log in to Connect through My.Charlotte.edu.
- Click Appointments on the left hand menu.
- Click the ‘Make an Appointment or Drop-in’ Button in the Upper Right
Corner - Under ’What type of Appointment..’ Select ‘Academic Support
(tutoring/mentoring)’ - Under ‘Service’ Select ‘Course Based tutoring’
- Pick Your Desired Date (The calendar will allow you to see
appointments up to 2 weeks out) - Click ‘Find Available Time’
- Once selected, under the calendar you have the options to filter
your needs by the Staff Member, In-person or virtual, and Location.

- To the right of the calendar, location options will be shown with photos
of the tutors (i.e. Colvard North 2200, Klein Hall 110, Virtual). - Under the pictures of the tutors, an option to select the Course you
would like tutoring will be available. - Once you select the course, you can select the appointment time that
works best for you. - Please add topic-specific comments about what you want your peer
tutor to help you learn. - Confirm email and text confirmation reminders are selected and verify
your listed mobile phone number. - Click Schedule.
How to Drop-in
- Check out the drop-in schedule online.
- All drop-in tutoring is held in the Colvard 2300 Learning Commons unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
How to Use Tutor.com
- Go to canvas.charlotte.edu.
- Enter any course on your Dashboard.
- Select “Tutor.com” from the left-hand menu.
- If you don’t see the link, join this Canvas course and Tutor.com will be linked in the menu.
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL)
PAL Sessions are academic group study sessions led by current students who have completed the course successfully. These sessions include collaborative and fun activities that provide practice and study skills for historically difficult courses.
How do I attend?
Step 1: Check PAL’s website to see if your course is offering PAL Sessions this semester.
Step 2: If your course is offered, then check out the schedule for dates, times and locations for sesions. No appointment or registration needed.
If you don’t see your course, check out tutoring or Tutor.com.
Academic Skill Workshops
Academic Skills Workshops strengthen students’ academic success through interactive workshops led by staff and trained graduate students both virtually and in-person.
How to attend a workshop
- Check out the Workshop schedule for the topic of your choice.
- Use the link to join our virtual workshops or stop by Colvard 2006 to join us in person.
- No registration is required, but all workshops are first come, first serve.

How to schedule an Academic Consultation
- Log in to Connect.Charlotte.edu using your NinerNET
credentials - Click ‘’Appointments’ on the left-hand menu
- Click the ‘Make an Appointment or Drop-in’ Button in the
Upper Right Corner - Under ’What type of Appointment..’ Select ‘Academic Support
(tutoring/mentoring)’ - Under ‘Service’ select ‘Academic Consultation (Not Advising)’
- Pick a date and select ‘Find Available Time’
- View the availabilities to the right of the calendar
- Select how would you like to meet? (In person or virtual) The
location will change based on your selection - To the left under the calendar you can filter your needs by
controlling for the Staff Member, In-person or virtual, and
Location. - After selecting your time please add topic-specific comments
about what you would like to talk about (e.g. time
management, goal setting, study strategies, etc.) - Confirm email and text confirmation reminders are selected
and verify your listed mobile phone number. - Click Schedule.
Accountability Groups
Accountability Groups offer structured individual work time by facilitating a small group environment that encourages community, where peer leaders model effective and transferable academic strategies. Accountability Groups meet weekly for 75 minutes throughout the semester and are facilitated by student leaders.
How to attend an Accountability Group
Step 1: Check out what groups are available this semester.
Step 2: Complete the form to join a group that works for your schedule, or request a new group to be added.
Peer Coaching
Get paired with a peer coach, known as a Success Guide, to have consistent academic support throughout the semester.
