Using Resources
As The Beatles taught us, we all get by with a little help from our friends. Ask your peers, instructors, university staff, and campus resources for support. Ever hear the adage that it takes a village to raise a child? It also takes a village to make a college graduate. College is hard, but remember you’re not alone. The following academic resources can help you earn better grades:
- Look for online appointments and drop-in tutoring.
- Check out a Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) session online.
- Polish your writing assignments with the Writing Resources Center.
- Get drop-in help with math through the Math Learning Center.
- Explore tutoring and study skills coaching through the CCI Undergraduate Tutoring Center.
We know you’ve got a lot going on outside of class as well and there are resources to support you there too.
- Schedule an Academic Consultation to get individualized help with mastering online classes.
- Learn more about academic skills like organization and note-taking in a workshop.
- The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers a wide selection of counseling groups designed to help students achieve personal growth and development, discuss interpersonal issues, and try out new ways of behaving.
- CAPS also offers individual counseling to assist you with concerns of a personal nature by helping you develop better coping strategies, resolve conflicts, and handle crisis situations.
There are also dedicated services for different populations of students who may have unique challenges and opportunities.
- Students with disabilities can seek accommodation and support through the Office of Disability Services.
- Adult and Nontraditional Students can find advising, programming, honor societies, and scholarship opportunities through the Office of Adult Students and Extended Services (OASES).
- Transfer students can seek advising and advocacy through the University Transfer Center.
