SOS FAQ
How do I sign up for the Students Obtaining Success Peer Mentor program?
Students eligible to participate in SOS should email successful@charlotte.edu about registering for the program.
How often do I meet with my peer mentor and how long does the program last?
Students (mentees) meet with their peer mentor one (1) time per week for one (1) hour. The SOS program lasts for one (1) academic semester (16 weeks). Students are limited to participating in SOS for one (1) semester. The strength of the program is the weekly mentor meeting so attendance is expected. Students who cannot commit to attending the weekly meeting should consider other 49er Rebound Options (UCOL 1300, 1305) or academic support options such as Academic Consultations.
Where do the meetings with my mentor take place?
Mentoring meetings may take place in the University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE), Colvard 2300, in one of the study rooms in Atkins Library, or virtually using a University-endorsed platform (Zoom or Google Meet). Students work with their Peer Mentor to schedule their weekly meeting time.
How am I matched with my mentor?
All participants complete an Initial Assessment when they sign up for the program that provides information regarding their academic journey. After the information is received, students are then matched with a mentor based on their individual needs and experiences.
